Sydney-based fashion illustrator Marta Madison lives in a world of colour and emotion. She enjoys taking vignettes from everyday life. Inviting the viewer in, they wander through her drawings to find little surprises and ideas along the way.
“When I have a drawing in my head, I am actually not in charge. My hand draws, but I am just the carrier of the vision. I choose the medium based on the complexity of the drawing and how it would best capture the garment.
“All of my drawings start with pencil: the spirit of the first few lines will show me where the drawing will go. These are my ‘precious lines’ and on a good day the drawing simply unfolds in a few strokes. That is my style, simply put.
“I am in love all things to do with fabric and fashion. My clients range from jewellery stores to clothing retailers. Visit my clients page to see what I have been up to!
“I work from the premise that line is as important as colour. I use watercolours, pencil and pencil crayon, as well as digital manipulation. I prefer to sketch from my imagination and I start all drawings with a pencil and paper.”
Sydney-based fashion illustrator Marta Madison’s clients appreciate her beautiful old-world pencil strokes, her attention to detail and professionalism.
